Cada vez me gusta más el barroquismo, los claroscuros de las sedas y la luz de las velas. Como en una escena de Entrevista con El Vampiro, o de Valmont.

The Baroque Style has been growing on me lately, with its claroscuro and candlelit ambiance, as in a scene from Interview with the Vampire or Valmont.

Parece que no soy la única. Vera Wang presentó en otoño de 2012 su colección de vestidos de novia negros, de inspiración clásica, y parece que la idea del claroscuro como sinónimo de romanticismo ha ido calando entre las Celebrities, y estoy segura de que no tardará mucho en popularizarse.

I may not be the only one to enjoy it. Vera Wang presented a collection of classical inspiration, black wedding dresses for Fall 2012, and the idea of contrasting lights and shadows has grown as a synonym of Romanticism. The concept has been seeping into Celebrity weddings, and we’re betting it won’t take long before you start liking it, too.

As so many things, black wedding dresses are not a novelty item. Until the wedding of Queen Victoria and Prince Albert, in 1840, white wedding dresses did not become main stream. Even then, for a part of the 19^th and early 20^th Century, the black wedding dress continued to be popular.

Durante el s.XIX, muchas novias se casaba con su mejor vestido, o elegían un vestido que pudieran llevar en ocasiones tras la boda. Con esta lógica aplastante, el negro era la opción natural.

During the 19th Century, many brides wore their best dress for their wedding, or chose a dress they could wear frequently after their wedding. In keeping with this logical thinking, black was the most natural choice.
